FAQ – IG DESK
Installation
Which macOS versions are IG DESK compatible with?
IG DESK is compatible with macOS Sierra (10.12.x) and later.
Is there a version for the Linux distribution I currently use?
All users of 64-bit Linux distributions can use the AppImage package which does not require installation permissions. Those who use the Ubuntu distribution and have administrator rights can install the Ubuntu package. Other packages for special needs can be found in our repository.
I downloaded the AppImage package for Linux, how do I use it?
The Appimage file downloaded must be made executable by following the instructions at this link.

Why does the application ask me for a UserID and Password?
IG DESK works with the Cloud Signature. To use your signature, you need to authenticate with the credentials set when the certificate was purchased.
How do I get a signature certificate?
The digital signature certificates can be purchased on the Intesi Group Store.
Why does the signed file have extension p7m?
When the file you need to sign is not a pdf, you must use the standard p7m format which contains both the original file and the signature. If the file is a pdf, the signature can be affixed into it (unless it is protected by a password that makes it unmodifiable, in which case a p7m file is generated as for non-pdf files).
Why when I try to sign the pdf file the application tells me that “it is not valid”?
It may happen that some pdf files have been generated with applications that do not strictly comply with the format. In this case, IG DESK reports the invalid format. Before signing, simply open the file with Adobe Acrobat and save a copy: the Adobe software strictly complies with the format and the saved copy will be valid.
I don’t get the push notification
If your smartphone does not receive a push notification due to internet connection problems, you can manually enter PIN and OTP.

If I open the pdf I signed why don’t I see the signature?
The digital signature is a cryptographic calculation not visible graphically within the document. However, it is possible to add a graphic signature that visibly declares that the document is signed. To do this, when IG DESK displays the document, you must press the [ctrl] key and select with the mouse the area in which you want to place the visible signature.
I have to sign a pdf file and get a p7m file, how can I do it?
Sometimes for business reasons is required to sign in p7m format. If the original file to be signed is in pdf format and you want to get the signature in p7m format, keep the [ctrl] key pressed while dragging the file in the dotted area or while pressing the [+] button to select the file.
For nerds only
How can I check the integrity and authenticity of the software downloaded?
By verifying the signatures of IG DESK releases, you can prove the authenticity and integrity of the downloaded file. This guarantees that the file you just downloaded was originally created by Intesi Group and that its contents haven’t been tampered with on the way.
Every IG DESK release is published in a variety of package formats:
*.pkg installer for macOS
*.exe installer with binaries for Windows
*.AppImage self-contained executable for any GNU/Linux.
*.deb installation program for Ubuntu
Each of these package files has two related sidecar files, a *.sha256sum and a *.asc that can be downloaded from the repository.
Before you can check the gpg signature you need to import the public key identified by the fingerprint: 896D 9BC8 A39B 5EEE E20A 19BC 86A6 BFD2 6998 4C0C also published here, here and here.
