What is a digital signature
A digital signature is a type of electronic signature that requires the signer to be identified and can be either qualified or advanced. The signature certificate is issued by an authorized entity, i.e. a QTSP (Qualified Trust Service Provider) upon identification of the signer. Intesi Group is a QTSP on the EU Trusted List.
What is the purpose of digital signature
A qualified digital signature allows any document to be signed with the same legal value as a handwritten signature. In addition to ensuring the identity of the signer, the digital signature ensures the integrity of the document, which cannot be changed after signing.

Document authenticity
Certifies the unique correspondence between the signature applied and the person claiming to be the author.

Document integrity
After the signature has been applied, the document can no longer be altered in any part.

Legal validity
Legally speaking, the document is perfectly valid, exactly as if it had been signed by hand.
How to digitally sign a document
In order to digitally sign you must first purchase an electronic signature certificate (Advanced or Qualified). Next you must be identified through your SPID identity, or-if without SPID-through video call with one of our operators. At this point Intesi Group can issue your signature certificate, and using one of our signature software, you can start signing wherever you are and with any device.

Which digital signature to choose

Simple
Basic electronic signature that proves acceptance or approval by the signer, using a certificate.
Advanced
Signature that must meet specific requirements to provide a higher level of verification and security of the signer’s ID.
Qualified
Non-repudiation digital signature with special legal status in EU countries. It is legally equivalent to a handwritten signature. It is supported by a certificate issued by a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) certified by an EU member state, and subsequently reported on the EU Trust List (EUTL).

How to get a digital signature
After purchasing a Qualified digital signature certificate from our Store, you must be identified. This can be done through a video call with one of our operators.

After purchasing your Qualified digital signature certificate from our Store, you will be invited to make an appointment for a video call with one of our operators, who will verify your identity. Only after this step Intesi Group will be able to issue your signature certificate, and you can begin signing.

Digital signature in four steps.
To digitally sign a document four steps are required:
- Purchase a qualified cloud-based digital signature certificate also known as remote digital signature from our Store.
- Identify with one of our operators.
- Enroll your signature certificate.
- Sign your document.
The first thing to do is to purchase a signature certificate from the Intesi Group Store.
The purchasing process is simple and guided.
You must provide your personal data a mail address set a password and pay at the checkout with a credit card.
After you have made your purchase you will proceed to upload your identification documents.
At this point you will receive a code to verify the phone number you provided during registration.
Then you will be able to book your appointment for video identification with one of our operators. This will be confirmed to you by email.
Getting identified is a fundamental step in enabling us to issue the signature certificate.
To start video identification you must have your passport at hand. The passport must be valid.
You also need a device with a webcam – PC or smartphone – and a stable internet connection.
The interview will will be led by the operator, you will only have to show your passport and answer a few simple questions.
Now Intesi Group has all the elements to issue your signature certificate.
At the end of the video identification you will get an email with all the information in order to enroll your signature certificate.
The first thing you have to do is to install the free IG YOU App on your smartphone which you will need every time you want to sign.
Remember to open the mail from your smartphone or tablet, then click on the “Issue certificate” button the IG YOU mobile App will automatically open and you will need to
click on the “Accept” button at the bottom right to proceed with your digital signature certificate enrollment.
The certificate will appear immediately and you will only only have to confirm the operation by clicking on the “Confirm” button at the bottom.
Now set a six-digit PIN easy for you to remember as you will use it every time you want to sign.
You’re done!
You have everything you need to sign: signature certificate and IG YOU mobile App, you just have to select the signature software closest to your needs.

Download the free IG DESK signature software to your PC by clicking on the button at the top right of the Intesi Group website homepage.
Select and drag the file to be signed into the dotted area.
Decide whether to add a visible signature or not then click the “Sign” button.
At this point you will get a push notification on your smartphone or tablet and you will have to enter your PIN.
You are done!
The document with the suffix “signed” will be available in the same folder as the original file.
