PkBox achieves QSCD Certification, ready for eIDAS 2.0

PkBox, the advanced digital signature and cryptographic management solution by Intesi Group, has officially obtained the Qualified Signature Creation Device (QSCD) certification under the eIDAS Regulation (EU 910/2014 and EU 2024/1183), confirming its full compliance with the strictest European requirements for qualified electronic signature creation. The certification, issued under reference VIG-25-036, places PkBox among the few solutions ready for the upcoming eIDAS 2.0 regulatory framework.

This recognition certifies that PkBox guarantees:

  • Sole control by the signatory, ensuring that private keys remain under the exclusive control of the end-user;
  • Full compliance with Annex II of eIDAS and ETSI EN 419 241-2 standards, which define security and interoperability requirements for QSCDs;
  • Technical readiness for eIDAS 2.0, aligning with the new amendments that will reshape the European digital trust landscape.

A Strategic Milestone in the Era of eIDAS 2.0

The achievement comes at a crucial time: the eIDAS 2.0 amendments are introducing a new European digital identity framework, with a stronger focus on qualified trust services, digital sovereignty, and cross-border interoperability. With its newly certified QSCD status, PkBox is positioned as a strategic solution for Qualified Trust Service Providers (QTSPs), financial institutions, healthcare organizations, and other regulated industries that require the highest level of assurance for electronic signatures.

Security, compliance, and interoperability have always been at the core of PkBox,” said Daniele Ribaudo – Product Owner of Intesi Group. “This QSCD certification not only reinforces our role as a trusted partner for digital trust services but also demonstrates our readiness to support the next generation of secure and compliant electronic signatures in Europe.”

Empowering Digital Sovereignty and Trust Services

PkBox’s certification also plays a key role in digital sovereignty initiatives, enabling governments and enterprises to maintain control over cryptographic keys and signature processes while meeting European legal requirements.

The certified device supports both on-premises and cloud-based deployment models, giving organizations flexibility without compromising on security.

Looking Ahead

As eIDAS 2.0 takes shape, PkBox will continue to evolve, ensuring ongoing compliance with new standards and contributing to the broader European objective of creating a trusted and secure digital single market.
